Some jerseys never really leave. On 24 September 2026, Germany faced the Netherlands in the Nations League at the Johan Cruijff ArenA wearing a remake of their 1990 World Cup away kit, the green jersey with the zigzag chevrons. It was also Jürgen Klopp’s first match as Germany coach.
The remake follows the original closely: a green base covered in a zigzag chevron graphic, a white wrap-over V-neck, the Trefoil logo and the vintage DFB crest. It is part of adidas’ “Bringback” line of reissued classics, and it had already been on sale since late May 2026 before Germany took it to the pitch.

Germany won the 1990 World Cup in Italy, and the kits from that tournament, the home jersey with the black, red and gold chest band and this green away, became two of the most recognisable football jerseys ever made. Wearing it in Amsterdam, against the rival of that era, made the choice even sharper.
We have the Germany Retro Away 1990 jersey in the store, together with the rest of the Germany jerseys, from other retro classics to the current kits. Looking for more classics? Browse all the retro jerseys.
This autumn also marks the end of an era: Germany’s 72-year partnership with adidas ends with a special farewell kit planned for the November Nations League games, and a new supplier takes over in 2027. We will cover it in the kit news.
